𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 2 – 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 “𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬” – Personal branding is not about being famous; it’s rather being selectively famous. That comes down to needing to understand the people we seek to influence — and then we need to be ever-present to those people in their minds. We need to know who needs to hear our message & we need to focus our branding efforts on them.

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 3 – 𝐓𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 – Nothing could be far off from truth than this. Personal brands aren’t fabricated, rather they are based on reality. When brand is built, it should be authentically built on who we are, meaning we need to dig deeply into what’s important to us, what sets us apart from others & what value we can contribute to those who are making decisions about us.

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 4 – 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 – Remember “People buy you first before they even consider buying your product or service”. So actually your personal brands contribute to the success of your professional brands, rather diluting it.

𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 – 𝑴𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑭𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒔

Our name is a brand right from when we are born till we die… even our memories are saved with our name. So actually we all brand ourselves unconsciously every single moment of our life. Then why is it so that when it comes to personal branding in professional domain we tend to hesitate, are afraid or doubt ourselves.

Is it that there are some myths around us which creates this mind-block for us and does not allow us to either take that first step or even after taking it does not let us do it efficiently.

As a branding coach, I thought of bringing some of the myths around in the society and the facts related to that. Do follow this series to clear your doubts and in case of any further support do not hesitate to reach out to me.

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡 1 – 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 “𝐦𝐞” – Despite our brand being about us as individual is actually held in heart & mind of those whom it reaches. We may keep talking about it the whole day as to who we are, but its actually when the people talk and establish our expertise in the domain when our brand gets strengthened.

The Process

The Process

Process is the steps or actions that combine to produce a particular goal. It defines the “how” aspect.

How to achieve the desired result?
How to utilize the people and technology to solve the business problem?

This is repeatable action that theoretically produce the same result independent of who performs them.

There are a few things to keep in mind while designing and implementing processes:

~ It’s imperative people understand how they fit into a process. They should understand the process, their role is in it & what is to be achieved.
~ Businesses should identify & focus on the key steps first. These will most likely contribute more to the end result. Once these are in place, they can start fiddling with the finer details, exceptional cases, and supporting processes.
~ Most Important “if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.” Thus, each process needs to have metrics that will measure its success.
~ Feedback and constant improvement are important for the process to have the best effect.

Once the people and processes are in place, organizations should consider the technology to support them.

The People

The People

From the PPT framework today we will talk about the first P – The people.

It refers to the human resource available at the firm’s disposal. People are the ones who do the tasks described in the process, sometimes by leveraging the technology.

One of the main tasks is to onboard the right people. Businesses need to identify their key employees with the right skills, experience, and attitude for the job at hand. In non-conducive cases the decision to outsource comes handy. These are key decisions that are crucial to the success of the PPT framework impact.

People also need clear role definitions so everybody knows their responsibilities. This helps in decision-making, technology selection, process deployment, and personnel hiring.

Many businesses fall in the trap of concentrating too heavily on technology & processes while almost ignoring people involved. Hence to take care of this is critical.

Finally, businesses need to get a buy-in from the people. They need to understand what they have to do, why they’re doing it, and how the changes affect them. Without this, it’s impossible to implement any new processes or technology.

PPT Framework

PPT Framework

People, Process & Technology – these three are probably the most important pillar for any organisation. This is all about how these three elements interact.

~ People do the job.
~ Processes make this work more efficient and keep them on track.
~ Technology helps People do their tasks and helps optimize and automate the Processes.

Hence organizational efficiency can only be achieved by balancing these three & optimizing relationship between them.

A good way to think of this is to think of it as a three-legged table. If one of the legs is bit longer or shorter, the whole table will lose its balance. Similarly, if the technology changes, you need to modify the people & processes to adapt to the new tools. However, technology is only as effective as the processes utilizing it & the people handling it.

If we don’t implement strong processes, the actions of people will be ineffective & they’ll waste a lot of the value delivered by technology.
If people don’t know how to use the technology properly, then company won’t create value from technology investment.
Similar will be the case if the new technology doesn’t integrate with processes.

PROCESSES & PEOPLE

PROCESSES & PEOPLE

It’s a set of rules to be followed for getting a task done
Is instrumental in giving each resource a feeling of having won.

Applicable for each setup from solopreneur to big organization
With a very important output being all resource optimization

Same operation at different setups could have processes different
Because it’s the people who ensure they are followed consistent

Every individual is different & so is different the approach
Processes are to be developed & implemented with a care of not to encroach

Ensure each resource is approached & included
Such that, outputs desired are worked till they are concluded

Inputs, processing & outputs are the basics & tools like BSC being advanced
Processes & people only when work together ensure that deliverable are enhanced.

Expectation set, skill mapped & gaps plugged with training
People can only contribute to the goals if process implemented with planning

The biggest room in the world is room for improvement
Ensure that processes aim at that continuously without any adjustment

Just processes & people are not enough for success
Measurement is equally critical with a blend of feedback for Progress

Remember Process alone is never enough
People are the one responsible for the stuff

Process – What is it?

PROCESS !

We keep hearing this term always. However, do we really know what is means and how it can impact our business? Should we begin from its dictionary meaning?

As per the books the word PROCESS means – “A series of actions that are done for a particular purpose” if we take it as a noun.

However, it’s just not as simple as that. When it comes to businesses, Processes attain a different level of complexity and should be looked at from various perspectives to ensure that we achieve what is most optimum for our kind of business.

Same industry vertical, similar products and 2 companies may have different processes for themselves which are optimal for them. As it is something that though having the potential to be standardized must have the element of customization to ensure that it becomes a part of the DNA of operations.

Some of the major parameters, attributes and considerations of Process could be
~ Different stakeholders involved (internal / external)
~ Outcomes desired
~ Work Culture
~ Type of activity (operational / supportive / managerial)
& many more…

Does your BRAND have FRAGRANCE ?

Exactly similar to flowers our brands should dissipate fragrance of our values, ethics, quality, care for customer & much more. Just by the look at it the brand should be able to establish a connection of the viewer with these attributes of ours.

Let’s see what actually FRAGRANCE for brands is
F – Frontrunner – Be the frontrunner in educating our clientele on the recent developments in our domain
R – Resilient – Business exigencies should not hit brand image & it should stand tall
A – Agile – Be known in the market place to be agile from addressing the needs of a customer to attending the prospects.
G – Goal-oriented – Have a goal and work towards addressing the ways and means to reach there.
R – Responsive – Never give a feeling of being non-responsive on any aspect of business or dealings
A – Adaptable – Be adaptable to the changes in the world and bring value to our customers always
N – Nurture – Each brand needs to be nurtured to grow. Treat it as a baby and grow it the same way.
